Soulful Saturday Night - Bollywood, Buddha & Brazil

Hello Beautiful People,

So...here I am sitting in the local South Indian eatery enjoying a steaming cup of Masala Chai and a plate full of mixed vegetable pakoras. There is Bollywood music playing against a background of mixed Languages.....American English, Gujarati, Telugu, Hindi and more.  The place is packed with gorgeous people....families.....couples.  I am the only "solo diner" enjoying my meal and some very precious (and extremely rare) "ME" time.  My only companion is my sketchbook and pen. I cleared my mind, took a sip of Chai and drew this Buddha:

and this Floral Mandala:

On the way home, I tuned into the local Jazz station, and they were jamming a wonderful Samba set.  I love the rhythms of Brazil!  This set the sage for a smooth drive full of beautiful music to guide me home.  No stress....No worries....A perfect ending to a soulful Saturday evening experience.

I hope you enjoyed the journey as much as I did.

Peace and Blessings,
Karen

A Peek Inside My Art Journal

Hello Beautiful People,

Spent a little time in the Studio today playing in my Art Journal as part of my daily creative practice. This is my Golden Buddha page:

I used Lumiere paint, gloss gel medium, a heat gun, ink jet image scan and PearlEx powder to create the page.

If you'd like to try creating the texture on the page, cover your paonted background and image with gloss gel medium and then use the heat gun very close to the paper until it bubbles up. Be careful not to burn the paper or the medum as both are flammable. Once you have the texture you like, allow it to cool and then apply the PearlE over the top wih a soft brush. Wipe excess PearlEx off with a soft paper towel or rag. Do not re-apply gloss gel medium to seal the piece or the PearlEx glow will be altered.

Hope you've enjoyed this little peek into my Art Journal.

Peace & Blessings,
Karen
